Things to avoid

• Avoid building a Conten Management Systems (CMS) from scratch.
• Avoid people who build CMS's from scratch.
• Delete/throw away job ads with the words ['ninja','guru','rockstar'].
• Avoid working at a place where you are the smartest programmer.
• Don't sit too much, get a standing desk.

The good parts

• You won't meet too many unemployed programmers.
• Pick your own path.
• Telecommuting was probably created by a programmer.
• "Waiting for permission" isn't always required on the Internet.
